Culture tour in the countryside
Thorsminde
Thorsminde is located on the small tongue of land between Nissum Fjord and the North Sea. At the museum, you can see a variety of objects from the biggest shipping disaster off the west coast of Denmark, which occurred in 1811 when two British ships of the line – St. George and Defence – sank off Thorsminde.
Nørre Vosborg
Nørre Vosborg is a unique manor house whose history can be traced back over 700 years. The manor was reopened in 2008 after several years of restoration work. The Nørre Vosborg estate consists of the manor house itself – which contains a number of stately rooms, a banqueting hall, conference rooms and a restaurant – and a collection of farm buildings.
Husby dune woods
This stretch of planted woodland is located alongside the North Sea south of Nissum Fjord. It comprises a variety of landscapes (beach, dune areas and dune heaths) and features a network of rambling and cycling paths, bridle paths and a woodland playground. In addition, barbecue sites have been set up around Skavemosen Lake.
Hjerl Hede
Hjerl Hede consists of extensive stretches of heath and oak spinneys around Flyndersø, the largest heathland lake in Denmark. In the heart of this delightful West Jutland heath landscape stands Hjerl Hede Open-air Museum, which is a stateauthorised special museum of culture and history.
